Golden Week 2026 in China: What It Means for Your Order

Golden Week 2026 in China What It Means for Your Order.jpg

China's National Day holiday runs 1–7 October 2026 (7 days). Ocean terminals, vessels and rail departures keep working — factories, trucking, customs review, commodity inspection and document courier runs slow down or stop. If your cargo is not gated in and loaded by 30 September, plan on a genuine slowdown, with operations resuming from 8 October.

National Day

  • : Thursday 1 October – Wednesday 7 October 2026,

7 days (adjusted holiday).

Adjusted working days

  • : Sunday 20 September and Saturday 10 October.

Mid-Autumn Festival

  • fell earlier: Friday 25 – Sunday 27 September,

3 days, no make-up working day.

  • Only

three working days (28–30 September)

separate Mid-Autumn from National Day this year, so the pre-holiday shipping window is compressed into that short stretch.

What keeps running

Function

Status during 1–7 Oct

Ocean terminals, vessel calls, rail departures

Operating

Air freight

Operating, with reduced uplift

Carrier booking acceptance

Operating

Cargo already loaded / in transit, and arrival at destination

Normally unaffected

What pauses or scales down

Function

Status during 1–7 Oct

Factory production lines

Closed, or a partial duty crew only

Inland trucking / drayage

Skeleton crews, limited slots, holiday surcharge

Empty-container depots (pick-up / return)

Reduced hours or closed

Customs declaration review, broker desks

Rotating duty only; new declarations largely stop

Commodity inspection, third-party QC appointments

Generally unavailable for new bookings

The bottleneck in early October is rarely the production line — it is the paperwork behind it. A document that is one signature short on 30 September usually cannot be fixed until 8 October.

What it means for your order

The holiday's effect on your order is decided before 30 September, not during the holiday week itself. Cargo already gated in and loaded sails on schedule. Anything that still needs production, third-party inspection or an official / chamber stamp realistically resumes from 8 October. For departures after 30 September, a 7–10 day planning buffer is the honest number to give your own customers.

Contact during the holiday

Enquiries between 1 and 7 October are handled by our duty team rather than by an out-of-office reply. Send us your order number and we will confirm its status, cut-off and earliest realistic departure date in writing.
